This workshop will introduce/review the eight intelligences of Howard Gardner's Theory
through interactive experiences. Explore your own multiple intelligences through a self assessment and group sharing. The assessment was developed by Tom Armstrong and
can be used to teach MI theory to your students. We will share specific tips to incorporate MI into your classroom activities and assessments. There will be a half-hour working lunch. (Bring your lunch) Target Audience: Teachers, Administrators
15 HOURS, 8-3:30 PM, Philip Sheridan Community Room
11-123032D 21st Century Memory Strategies August 18 & 19, 2010
Given the fact that as much as 70% of what we learn and teach may be forgotten in 24
hours, there can be no learning without memory. Explore how memories are RECORDED, identify RETRIEVAL strategies, and practice REHEARSAL strategies including body location, snapshot and mental movie. Ask the question "How will you remember this?" of our students and have an answer to MODEL for them. There will be a half-hour working lunch. (Bring your lunch)

11-123033D Cooperative Learning-Has Learning Occurred? August 20, 2010
We will discuss and model the difference between true cooperative learning and not just
group work. The basics of true cooperative learning will be reinforced for the non-whole
group portion of your lesson. Dovetailing the work of the Johnsons and Spencer Kagan,
small cooperative structures will be discussed and demonstrated that can be integrated
into most class periods. There will be a half-hour working lunch. (Bring your lunch)
