Video Conferencing and Virtual Field Trips

Many teachers don't realize that their district has video conferencing equipment that can be brought right to the classroom. Learn about what is currently available in our region, our state, our nation, around the world, and how to take your students on a fieldtrip without leaving your school.

  • What day? by appointment
  • What time? at your convenience
  • Where? at your school or at the Teacher Center
  • Instructor Bob Hazen

Call Cheryl Fita at 1-800-836-7510 ext 3757 to arrange or e-mail Cheryl Fita to make arrangements.

Digital cameras and Scanners

Instructor: Bob Hazen (Teacher Center)
Dates & Times: TBA
Location: O/N BOCES Conference Center
Cost: $10

Many of us have questions when we get started:

  • How does the pixel array determine the quality of the photo?
  • How can you save great pictures without using up all your free disk space?
  • What resolution (dots per inch or pixels) is best for web postings?
  • What about scanners?
  • Should you spend a lot of money on image editing software?
  • What role does the printer play in my decisions?

Digital photography is fast becoming the media of choice for amateurs and professionals alike. But using a digital camera effectively, and knowing which editing capabilities to consider, can be a daunting task.
Come learn about what’s out there and discuss ideas with your peers about using this tool to change your teaching and improve your students’ learning.

Topics will include sharing ideas at all grade levels for Math, Science, Tech Ed, ELA, Social Studies, Art, and more. Bring your own camera, the school’s camera, or use one of ours.

(Small group instruction on digital camera “nuts & bolts” can take place at your school, on other dates, at times convenient for your faculty. Call Bob Hazen at 1-800-836-7510 ext 3757 to arrange or e-mail Bob Hazen to make arrangements .)
