Writing Contest/Video Contest/Stock Market

The Teacher Center is pleased to offer THREE student contests:

Writing Contest (open to students in grades K-5)

This annual event is such a great experience for students, teachers and family members, as well as the Teacher Center staff and Policy Board. Students can choose to submit entries in one of 3 categories: poetry, essay, or short story. Each teacher can submit one entry per category per class (if you teach multiple classes, you can submit entries for each class). The contest closes with an Awards Ceremony and recognition of ALL students in April.

This year's topic is: "Citizenship: As I See It" and focuses on how students view citizenship. They can explain it in terms of community, school, global, digital, however they want. Entries are due March 19th by 4pm. All entries must be accompanied by an entry form.

Video Contest (open to students in grades 6-12)

The video contest will focus on the same topic as the Writing Contest. Students, either individually or as a team are to create a 5-minute video portraying some type of citizenship. they can act out examples, interview good citizens in their neighborhood, provide an audible narrative, or whatever they choose. Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for 2 sections: grades 6-8 and grades 9-12. Entries are due by March 19th at 4pm.
